Performance content | [Program] 13:00- Commentary of Noh “SUMIDAGAWA” by Robert Campbell Prof. Robert Campbell, whom you may have seen on TV, gives a lecture on how to appreciate the Noh play “SUMIDAGAWA” not only for the Japanese but also for the audience from overseas. [Japanese Style Voice Training and Vocalization Experience] 13:30-14:00 Female Noh performer, Yoko Yamamura, offers a hands-on program of ancient Japanese vocalism by abdominal breathing. After mastering the basic breathing technique, the participants join a short lesson of Nenbutsu / Buddhist mantra in Noh chant of “SUMIDAGAWA” with a Noh performer of Kita school. ※With English translation [Performance Noh “SUMIDAGAWA”] 14:15-15:30 Performers of Kita school present “Sumidagawa”, a favorite master-piece of Noh play which moves audiences to tears. ※Subtitled in English [Post-Performance Talk] 15:45-16:15 The audience is welcome to join the Post-Performance Talk.
